Visiting Historic 1913 Station Building in Nha Trang, Vietnam – Now Abandoned (Train SE-7 Passing)

I visited the historic train station in Nha Trang, hoping to see it before it was demolished.

It was so old that even the young local Grab driver didn’t know about it, and it seemed to have become a haven for pigeons.

[The following is from Wikipedia]
During the French colonial era, France constructed the Saigon-Nha Trang Railway from 1900 to 1913.

Phu Binh Station was built in 1913 and is the terminus of this line.

Later, in 1928, France constructed the Da Nang-Nha Trang Railway, completing the Trans-Vietnam Railway, including the construction of Nha Trang Station, 4 km north of Phu Binh Station.

When Nha Trang Station was built in 1936, Phu Binh Station was used as a refueling station for steam locomotives and as a work area for trains entering Nha Trang Station.

Afterward, Phu Binh Station was used for the maintenance and upkeep of bridges and tracks, and later as temporary housing for six families of railway workers. Since 2018, Phu Binh Station has not been in use.

After years of use and decay, the tiled roof has collapsed, the station is becoming increasingly dilapidated, and the wooden floor on the first floor is gradually crumbling, posing a danger to local residents.

On January 31, 2019, Vietnam National Railways stated that “Phu Binh Station has not been in use for many years, and there are no records of station management.”

Subsequently, Vietnam National Railways requested the Ministry of Transport to consider and authorize the demolition of Phu Binh Station to ensure the safety of rail traffic.
