Tam Ky, Vietnam: Statue of the Vietnamese Heroic Mother, Mural Village, Beach, and More
Tam Ky, the capital of Quang Nam Province in central Vietnam, is a quieter destination that often gets overlooked by travelers heading to Hoi An or Da Nang. In this video, I explored some of its most memorable spots, including a powerful monument, a colorful mural village, and a peaceful beach.
The Statue of the Vietnamese Heroic Mother
One of the most striking landmarks in Tam Ky is the massive Statue of the Vietnamese Heroic Mother. This monument honors the sacrifices of Vietnamese mothers during the wars, particularly inspired by Mother Nguyen Thi Thu, who lost many of her children.
The statue is large and solemn, set in a wide open area that gives it a strong presence. Standing in front of it, you can feel the weight of history and the quiet strength it represents. It’s a meaningful stop that offers a deeper look into Vietnam’s past beyond the usual tourist sights.
Tam Thanh Mural Village
Next, I visited Tam Thanh Mural Village, often called Vietnam’s first mural village. What was once a simple fishing community has been transformed by colorful wall paintings created in collaboration with Korean artists.

Walking through the village feels like strolling through an open-air art gallery, with bright colors and creative designs at every turn. Tam Thanh Beach
Just nearby is Tam Thanh Beach, a beautiful stretch of coastline that remains relatively uncrowded. The sand is soft, the water is clear, and the atmosphere is relaxed.
Compared to the busier beaches near Da Nang or Hoi An, this spot feels more peaceful. It’s a great place to walk along the shore, enjoy the sea breeze, and take a break from sightseeing. Local seafood restaurants nearby also make it easy to enjoy fresh catches from the area.

Tam Ky may not be as famous as some of Vietnam’s bigger destinations, but it offers a mix of history, art, and natural beauty that feels authentic. The Heroic Mother Statue leaves a lasting impression, the mural village is full of color and creativity, and the beach provides a calm place to unwind.
