This is dashcam footage from a snowy road drive, on the way home. When it first starts snowing, compacted snow, and melting snow are slippery, and there’s a risk of freezing in shaded areas, so even with snow tires, utmost caution is necessary. It may look like I’m driving fairly fast, but the actual speed is very moderate. As we learned in driving school, sudden acceleration and braking are strictly forbidden. When stopping, gentle pumping brakes well in advance are effective. On curves, slow down and focus on the feeling of the tires gripping the snow. Even with snow tires, tire chains are essential. Because the road narrows, maintaining a safe following distance and yielding to other vehicles is more important than usual.
