I had lunch at Ajisai in Itoigawa City.
They have a wide variety of dishes featuring local fish, making it hard to choose, but they also have reasonably priced set meals, which is great for enjoying local fish casually.
Since I visited in the middle of winter, there are many days when fishing is not possible. The owner said, “When fishing becomes possible again in early spring, we will be able to offer a wider variety of sashimi and fish dishes,” which made me even more excited to visit again.
Also, the tempura was crispy and seemed to be made with great care.
It’s close to the Alps Exit of Itoigawa Station, so it’s a good place to stop by if you have some time to spare while waiting for a train.
