Itoigawa City, Niigata: Benten-iwa Rock in Nou with Flying Koinobori Streamers

Benten-iwa, a large rocky reef located on the Nou coast along National Route 8, was formed by the eruption of an underwater volcano in the Fossa Magna and is one of the geosites of the Itoigawa Geopark.

Benten-iwa has a lighthouse that continues to light, serving as an important guide for fishing boats entering and leaving Nou Fishing Port.

Furthermore, in the middle of the island is Itsukushima Shrine, known as the guardian deity of the sea.
